Recycle For Greater Manchester

To encourage residents to waste less and recycle correctly we deliver clear and creative communications and campaigns through our Recycle for Greater Manchester brand.

As part of the Behavioural Change & Communication Strategy 2017-2022 we aim to:

Reduce contamination in residents recycling bins

  • By using WasteDataFlow and Waste Collection Authority data sources to target intervention campaigns in areas of high contamination; and
  • By delivering a programme of Greater Manchester wide campaigns focusing on educating residents and eradicating confusion over what items can be recycled in our four bin waste stream system.

Increase food waste recycling

  • By using Waste Data Flow and Waste Collection Authority data to target intervention campaigns in areas of low participation;
  • By delivering a programme of Greater Manchester wide campaigns focusing on educating residents and eradicating confusion over what items can be recycled within our 4 bin waste stream system; and
  • By developing partnerships and initiatives within Greater Manchester to promote food waste
    recycling

Promote Waste Minimisation

  • By influencing and, where appropriate, link with national campaigns;
  • By delivering a programme of campaigns to promote waste prevention/minimisation; and
  • By developing partnerships and initiatives within Greater Manchester to promote food waste recycling.
