Recycling rates for Bury have increased greatly over the last 5 years from a low of 5.64% in 2001/02 to 23.23% in 2005/06.

Bury MBC provide grey wheelie bins for the collection of normal domestic rubbish and 240 litre blue bins for properties on the multi-material recycling scheme. In addition, 50,000 properties are provided with a brown bin for recycling garden waste and 78,000 have a green bag for paper recycling.
