In partnership with the Waste Collection Authorities, which include, Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside and Trafford, we have reduced the amount of waste collected from over 1.4 million tonnes in 2004/05 to around 1.1 million tonnes in 2009/10. With the help of residents, recycling rates across Greater Manchester have increased from 5.1% in 2001/02 to 36% in 2009/10. This performance means we are on track to achieve our 50% target in 2015.
