GMWDA Announce Key Marketing Agency Appointments
Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority (GMWDA) today announced the appointment of two marketing agencies - Resource Futures who have been selected to work on direct engagement and working in the community, and Corporate Culture who have been tasked with providing specialist PR support and advice to the Authority. Both companies will share their skills base and work in partnership alongside GMWDA and their partner Waste Collection Authorities (WCAs).
During the selection process both agencies offered good advice to ensure effective communications with the stakeholders and communities of Greater Manchester. They have presented work programmes and have now commenced with essential audit and contextual work.
GMWDA began the procurement process for marketing resources in June 2007 so that they could begin to look further at boosting community engagement capacity. This detailed process resulted in a high level and quality of interest from a large number of agencies.
Speaking today Councillor Neil Swannick, the Chair of the Authority commented:
“We are delighted to announce the appointments of two very capable agencies. The agencies will be helping us to keep the residents of Greater Manchester informed on the progress of the ‘world class’ waste solution that is proposed for Greater Manchester and will also build on the many benefits that the new treatment and disposal contract will bring with: recycling levels across the region looking to increase to 50%, support for kerbside collection services increasing, improved landfill avoidance, new jobs, better facilities for the residents of Greater Manchester and the production of ‘green’ electricity.
Throughout the planning for the new treatment and disposal contract we have adopted an open approach and the Authority, alongside its preferred bidder for the new contract Viridor/Laing, have already been doing a lot of work in the community with regards to proposals for sites. These new marketing appointments mean that we can strengthen this approach and build upon existing lines of dialogue to expand on the great work that is being done across Greater Manchester.”
