Entwisle Road Facility, Rochdale Re-Opening For Trade Waste
In consultation with Rochdale MBC and in recognition of the need for waste facilities for small businesses and local traders, GMWDA is making arrangements for the Entwisle Road facility to re-open for use for mixed trade waste with effect from 9th March 2009. The site had been closed to traders in January 2008.

GMWDA Confirms progress on its PFI Project
Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority and Viridor Laing are committed to achieving financial close, the main commercial aspects of the contract have been agreed and the Funders are now in their credit approvals processes, which are scheduled to take approximately 3 to 4 weeks.

GMWDA Raises The Bar For Recycling
Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority (GWWDA) has announced that it has raised the height of the barriers at all Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) entrances in Greater Manchester. Previously, the barriers were set at a height of 5’9” (175cm) in order to deter traders from abusing the sites.

John Bland to Become Treasurer and Deputy Clerk at GMWDA
Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority (GMWDA) today announced the creation of an additional senior post of Treasurer and Deputy Clerk to the Authority, and also that Oldham Council’s Director of Finance and ICT (Information and Communication Technology), John Bland would be filling this post.

Major Waste PFI Contract Moves Much Closer
Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority today announced further progress to its 25 year waste PFI that will see a major capital investment by a consortium headed by preferred bidder, Viridor Waste Management and John Laing Investments (Viridor Laing), to provide an innovative solution to deal with nearly 1.4m tonnes per annum of Greater Manchester’s waste in a world class and sustainable way.

GMWDA Moves Another Important Step Forward.
At its meeting on 4th April the Authority confirmed that it proposes to award the contract for its 25 year waste management services to the Viridor Laing consortium, subject to final contract details being agreed by the Authority’s Clerk and Treasurer under delegated powers.

GMWDA Sets A Route Plan For Closing Its PFI Contract
A report on the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority (GMWDA)’s PFI contract progress to date, went to the GMWDA’s Authority meeting today. The report also set out the proposed timetable to take the PFI contract to contract conclusion by the end of the financial year.

GMWDA Announce Key Marketing Agency Appointments
Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority (GMWDA) today announced the appointment of two marketing agencies - Resource Futures who have been selected to work on direct engagement and working in the community, and Corporate Culture who have been tasked with providing specialist PR support and advice to the Authority.
