Community Waste Fund
The Community Waste Fund 2011 Round 2 is now CLOSED
Help us exceed a 50% recycling rate by 2020!
The aim of the community waste fund is to provide funding for projects that will make an impact on the amount of waste produced in Greater Manchester. We are supporting projects that will positively impact on our Municipal Waste Management Strategy (MWMS) targets and help reach our goal of zero waste to landfill.
A New Look For the Community Waste Fund
We have undertaken an extensive review of the community waste fund application process and we think we can do better. We want to make it easier for groups to apply and to give groups as much information as possible about how the application process works, therefore we have made some big changes.
- Applicants will no longer need to complete an expression of interest form just an Application Form which can be downloaded and emailed directly to us.
- We have arranged for support from each District to help ensure that any proposed project works well with what local district is already doing.
- We have improved the Guidance Notes for applicants and included a new section which explains how we score your application form.
- We have provided links to voluntary sector infrastructure groups in Greater Manchester who will be able to give applicants a helping hand in completing application forms.
- We have also provided you with a quick view diagram of the CWF process so you know how we deal with applications.
Important dates for your funding calendar
The second funding round for this year opened on the 8th December, 2011 and closed on the 27th January, 2012.
Keeping an eye on our Zero Waste Agenda
Nationally we throw away nearly half a million tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) such as computers, TV’s and washing machines every year. In a recent study we found that approximately 6000 tonnes of small electrical items, e.g. hairdryers, portable radios etc are disposed of in household bins across Greater Manchester. Some of these items could be re-used, all should be recycled.
Community Waste Fund special focus on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
We want to try and support community groups to help us reduce this problem so applications for projects that will reduce the amount of electrical items being thrown away, or will increase the amount re-used and recycled will be encouraged by being awarded additional points during the scoring process.
IMPORTANT
If your project does not feature waste electricals PLEASE DON’T DESPAIR!
If your project does not fall into our special focus category don’t despair we still want to support a wide range of projects, if your project is good enough to get through to our funding panel it will have an equal opportunity to be funded.
